A trip to Gangtok in 10 days with family
Knowing the unknown, and the joy of seeing the unseen always fills our lives with happiness. And if that view is Gangtok full of natural beauty with mountains, sky, clouds, and ice, then there is no question.
So whatever you think, work. The program is done, and a trip to Gangtok in 10 days with the family will start by the end of November.
Day 1:
That's right, three of our family members and three of Tapan's uncles from my father's office will go to Gangtok for a total of six. The day is fixed for 26th November 2019.
After a long wait, our journey started with bags and baggage on November 26 at 10 am. Train from Howrah. Kamrup Express. Will leave at 9 pm.
There are several trains from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri such as Howrah-New Jalpaiguri, Howrah-Kamrup Express, Howrah Teesta-Torsa Express, etc.
If you want to come from Delhi, you can also get multiple trains on this route. All trains will pass from New Jalpaiguri. And to get to Gangtok you have to take a separate car from New Jalpaiguri.
Here you have the offices of multiple travel agencies. You can adjust the car with the package according to your budget.
However, if you want to know my advice in this regard, I would say that you would do well to contact the office of Sikkim Tour and Travels. Because if you book a car through them, you will get the benefit of insurance.
Now those who want to catch a plane can land directly at Gangtok Airport.
However, the first day of our ten-day Gangtok tour was November 28th. We packed up the night before and left in the morning with some light snacks and tiffins. For now, the destination is on the way from Haldia to Howrah.
Six members of two families. Uncle Tapan's daughter and I have known each other since childhood. Our friendship since childhood. We sat face to face by the window. Sometimes in songs, sometimes in stories, sometimes in laughter, the two families went forward together on the way to Howrah.
As there was no direct train, we went down to Panshkura on the way and had lunch. After a short rest at the station, we caught the Panskura-Howrah local at two o'clock. We arrived in Howrah to see the hawkers selling all sorts of sounds and things. It would be at four o'clock in the afternoon.
After waiting for several hours, at five o'clock in the afternoon, the information board of our train came up. We arrived at the designated place on the platform with our luggage to get on the train.
The last time of November has already started the winter mood. So after making a lot of noise without spending much night, We ate dinner and fell asleep in that place. At night the train began to run fast. The train stopped for a while at certain junctions. As it progressed, the cold mood seemed to increase. I took tea a couple of times and warmed my body a little.
The atmosphere looked strangely enchanting on a moonlit night when the train crossed the Farakka Barrage. Lipi i.e. Tapan Uncle's daughter and I went to the door together and enjoyed the scene.
Day 2:
Today is November 29. On the second day of our Gangtok trip. At 7 o'clock in the morning, our car left NJP on the way to Gangtok. It was Sebok Road. While our car was speeding along the hilly road, it was as if a fountain was coming down the hill somewhere on both sides of the road.
The distance between NJP to Gangtok is 120 km.
To see the scenery on both sides of the road, we drove for about four hours to reach the hotel near MG Market in Gangtok.
Our Xylo car from New Jalpaiguri to Gangtok rented 3000 rupees.
If you rent a car from New Jalpaiguri to Gangtok personally, your budget will be around Rs 2500-3000.
You can get a good quality hotel in the vicinity of MG Market for 1200-1400 rupees. Out of the row upon row of hotels on the hill, you will find a hotel just according to your budget.
However, after arriving at the hotel, we took a short rest and in the afternoon we went for a walk at MG Market.
MG Market. It is the heart of Gangtok. It is very clean. Beautifully arranged. You will find shopping malls for many local and foreign businesses here. Various clothing stores, electronics stores, restaurants, fashion stores, bars, spas, and beauty parlors are not here! If you can keep your pocket budget right then you will find all kinds of arrangements here to enjoy. What will impress you the most is the hospitality here. Seeing their cheerful demeanor and sincerity, it will seem as if we will spend a few more days here.
Anyway, I did a lot of shopping together with my parents, uncles, and aunts. It was night. This winter night. So we ate dinner and went back to the hotel.
Day 3:
The third day of our trip to Gangtok started with a morning walk in a soothing and quiet environment. Today we will look around 7 points around Gangtok. Regarding the car, the hotel manager has been told that the car will leave at 7 in the morning. But before that, if you can walk a little closer, what's wrong? Talking to ordinary residents of the area and finding out about their way of life is an added bonus.
So we went out at half-past five with a little dark head. After a forty-minute walk in the winter morning, we came back to the hotel.
After taking a bath back at the hotel, I warmed my body a little by giving snacks and tea while shivering in the cold. As usual, the car arrived at 8 o'clock.
First I went to a Buddhist stupa. Do Drul Chorten Stupa. I came to know about the history of Gautam Buddha by visiting this stupa. I learned about its history by lighting a lamp in complete silence. I sat in the prayer room for a while and offered to cleanse myself from sin.
Then we went to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. A visit to this ancient institute reveals the historical connection of India with Tibet. You can learn about different types of stones from here. You can also collect it.
We went to Seven Sister Water Falls. The play of mountains and clouds and the murmur of the fountain with it will fascinate you. It would be better to spend some time with your partner in a romantic environment.
Among the various stupas of Lord Buddha, Ganesh Tok's stonework will add to your amazement.
Then we went to Ramtek Monastery. I was overwhelmed to see how the Buddhist monks here disciplined the students, the routines, the activities, and the prayer rooms of those who came to study here.
This time we went to a zoological garden. The sounds of different animals and birds will fascinate you. In between, we saw the whole city of Gangtok on the ropeway.
Then we went to the Flower Exhibition. What kind of flowers are arranged with their scientific names! Many movies have been shot here. The inside is so nicely arranged that you won't want to go back.
In this way, I could not understand when the time came. I had to finish eating and drinking all day while driving. I stood on the street and saw a coffee shop, had some coffee, and went out to Tashi View Point. At the end of the day, the sight of the sun setting in the winter mood seemed to have lost us. It is as if the goddess of nature has decorated Gangtok with her own hands.
